The surface moves with the waves from passing boats. On this they built houses of reeds, a room size. About 25 people lived on the platform that we visited. They have electricity from solar panels or car batteries. Not sure about water and sanitation. Very touristy, but incredibly unique. Then 3 hours boat ride on the Amantani is. where to stay. Upon arrival we were greeted on the dock of women dressed in brilliantly - ourHosts. The names were read and we left. We were joined by 50-an English lady and a Spanish man in both. Our host was a young single woman (still smiling): his family were missing until the evening, busy building a house. The small climb up the hill to his home exhausted from the coast to us - we are now in 3800 our small but comfortable bedroom, it was a very steep flight of stairs. We were invited to climb a small mountain behind the village to watch the sunset. Ha! But exactly what makes us...
